The New York Knicks have signed recently waived point guard Baron Davis. The move adds depth for the Knicks at point guard however they are banking on his future production. David is reported to miss at least 8-10 weeks of this upcoming season. Questionable move by the Knicks, but it makes sense.
For the beginning of the season the Knicks will lean on Toney Douglas and Mike Bibby. Baron Davis has taken a huge step back from his Warrior days and coming off of a major surgery, I wouldn't expect much . I expect Toney Douglas will be a sleeper but he could easily keep the starting spot. Douglas has the ability to put up points in bunches, he just has to remain consistent and facilitate the ball.
I give this move a C at best unless Baron Davis blows me away this season. I still feel like the Knicks should have kept Raymond Felton who was averaging 20 points per game with 9 assists per game last season.
