#TRSB NFL SEASON AWARDS OUTLOOK:
Most Valuable Player: Before Drew Brees broke Dab Marino's record, Aaron Rodgers was in cruise control as the MVP favorite. The more and more this debate goes on the more I start to believe the honors will be shared. Both quarterbacks have displayed an amazing body of work in 2011 and it's hard to just pick one.
Winner: co-MVP Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers ;
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Offensive Rookie of The Year: This one will be a hard one with Cam Newton's record breaking 34 total touchdowns, however Newton has also thrown 16 INTs this season. 14 of Newton's scored were on the ground which is a physical advantage he has over his counterpart Andy Dalton. Dalton has thrown the exact same number of passing touchdowns with three less interceptions. Dalton also has the better record a 9-6, with a possible playoff berth with a victory Sunday. Dalton has stepped into a difficult situation in Cincinnati as the replacement for Carson Palmer and has handled it exceptionally. I think this one will come down to if the Bengals make the playoffs or not. With Cam Newton being the media darling and his highlight reel type plays, I expect him to win the award if Dalton doesn't have a big game this Sunday.
Winner: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Defensive Rookie of The Year : This one won't be as hard to decide as the offensive side of the ball with there only one clear cut impact player. Von Miller has clearly established himself as the front runner for the Defensive Rookie of The Year award with 64 tackles, two forced fumbles and 11.5 sacks. Miller faced early competition from 49ers rookie Aldon Smith who was also an early favorite at the beginning of the season. Smith currently has 35 tackles, two forced fumbles and has totaled 14 sacks on the season for the 49ers. Miller has shown why he was taken so high by VP of Football Operations John Elway.
Winner: Von Miller, Denver Broncos
Coach of The Year: Jim Harbaugh has managed to sew this one up after leading the San Francisco to a 12 win season with Alex Smith at quarterback. There's not much you can take away from a team that improved by six wins this season. You could make a case for Marvin Lewis to win the award again, but its hard to argue with 12 wins on the season including key wins against the Steelers, Eagles and Giants.
Winner: Jim Harbaugh , San Francisco 49ers
